A high-level delegation from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is set to visit Iran to attend the funeral and state ceremonies of the country‍‍`s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The delegation will travel from Dhaka on July 3 and remain in Iran until July 9.

Led by Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman, the delegation also includes Member of Parliament Md Nurul Amin, Dr Md Keramat Ali, and Jamaat leader Dr SM Khaliduzzaman.

In a press release, Jamaat said the delegation would attend the funeral and official ceremonies to express its deep condolences, sympathy, and solidarity with the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran following the death of Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei.

The party said that, as part of the official programme, the delegation would also hold courtesy meetings with Iran‍‍`s top leadership and relevant government authorities.

Jamaat expressed hope that the visit would further strengthen the longstanding brotherly relations, mutual understanding, and bilateral cooperation between the peoples of Bangladesh and Iran.

The party also thanked the Iranian government for inviting the delegation to the state ceremonies and for extending the necessary support to facilitate the visit.
